Claygate Heritage: The Claygate Pearmain Apple was discovered in 1822 growing in a Claygate hedgerow.
Several Pearmain trees can still be seen today in gardens and allotments in and around Claygate Village.

Interesting Fact: The Claygate Pearmain Apple is a popular Victorian dessert apple and is recommended
by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
This famous apple, Claygate bricks and Holy Trinity Church are depicted on the Claygate Village Sign at the entrance to The Parade.
